Trabzonspor are reportedly weighing up a move for Luton Town’s Nigerian forward Elijah Adebayo as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to the Turkish media, the Super Lig club have identified the 1.93m Nigerian as a potential backup for Paul Onuachu, who recently returned to Trabzonspor following a prolific loan spell.
The Turkish side are believed to be open to a deal despite Adebayo currently recovering from a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Adebayo, 27, suffered the injury in April and has undergone surgery, with reports indicating he may not return to full fitness until late 2025. He missed the final stretch of the 2024–25 campaign as Luton Town were relegated from the Championship.

Still, his CV remains attractive. Adebayo was a central figure in Luton’s rise to the Premier League, scoring consistently in the Championship. In January 2024, he etched his name in the club’s history books by scoring Luton’s first-ever Premier League hat-trick in a 4–0 win over Brighton.
Over the course of his career, he has scored 33 goals and provided eight assists in 139 Championship appearances. He also impressed in League Two with 25 goals and four assists in 89 games. In England’s top flight, he notched 10 goals in 27 appearances.
Luton are believed to value Adebayo at around €6.5 million and would reportedly be willing to consider offers, even in light of his long-term injury.
Trabzonspor, who has reportedly arranged a private jet to fly Paul Onuachu and his family back to Turkey this week, appear keen to build a formidable front line ahead of the new season.
