Transfer: Sevilla Coach Speaks On Iheanacho Exit, Mikel Arteta Speaks On Partey’s Future, Others

Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has shared insights regarding Kelechi Iheanacho, who is anticipated to leave the La Liga club during the January transfer window.

Since joining on a free transfer last summer, Iheanacho has encountered challenges in securing regular playing time, accumulating nine league appearances, mainly as a substitute.

While he has yet to score in La Liga, he has demonstrated his capability by netting three goals in the Copa del Rey.

Pimienta noted that Iheanacho has received interest from other clubs, although the prospects of these offers materializing remain uncertain, partially due to some minor travel issues the player is currently facing. This information surfaced during a press conference before Sevilla’s Copa del Rey match against Almeria.

At Arsenal, coach Mikel Arteta has expressed that there are currently no plans to initiate contract negotiations with Thomas Partey or Jorginho. Both players have fewer than six months left on their contracts.

Partey has been in good form, contributing effectively in midfield and even at right-back due to squad injuries, while Jorginho has had less frequent opportunities under Arteta.

Arteta emphasized the necessity of concentrating on the current season when discussing the futures of both players, indicating that any future negotiations would be more appropriate later. He encouraged the players to reflect on their situations before making any decisions.

Meanwhile, Napoli are showing interest in Chelsea defender Renato Veiga as the January transfer window hits up.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano highlighted this in a post on X, indicating that the Serie A club is eager to strengthen their squad.

While multiple clubs are reportedly interested, there remains uncertainty regarding whether Chelsea will allow Veiga to depart, especially since he has only participated in four matches across all competitions this season.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has also commented on Ben Chilwell’s future, acknowledging uncertainty surrounding the left-back’s role.

Even though Chilwell’s contract runs until 2027, Maresca recognized the unpredictable nature of the January transfer window, suggesting that there could be movements within the squad.

Additionally, former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has shared his thoughts on the potential future of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, predicting a possible move to Real Madrid.

With Alexander-Arnold’s contract expiring this summer, discussions about his future, including a potential January transfer, are ongoing.

On his Obi One Podcast, Mikel Obi praised Alexander-Arnold’s skill and suggested that the player might be looking for a new challenge, possibly teaming up with his former England teammate Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid, while also acknowledging the stature of Liverpool as a prestigious club.

At Nottingham Forest, coach Nuno Espirito Santo remains optimistic about Ola Aina signing a new contract with the club.

Aina’s current deal has six months remaining, and he is eligible to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club starting this month.

When asked about the prospects of securing new deals for Aina and forward Chris Wood, Santo expressed his confidence, stating, “I think things are going well, and the players are performing very well.”

The Nigeria international joined Forest as a free agent from Torino in 2023 and has contributed two goals in 19 league appearances this season.
