Turkish giants Besiktas have started negotiations to lure Super Eagles attacker Joe Aribo to Tupras Stadium following his impressive 2023-24 stint with Southampton, Soccernet.ng reports.

Reports from Turkish-based journalist Gurkan Borangil reveal that the new Besiktas manager, Van Bronckhorst, is keen on making the Nigerian international one of his first signings for the club.

The manager has identified the former Rangers star as an ideal addition to the team and has presented his case to the management.

New reports indicate that the Turkish giants are currently in negotiations with the Saint Mary’s outfit to sign the Nigerian player.

Aribo’s Contract with Southampton

The Super Eagles attacker joined Southampton after an excellent stint with Scottish side Rangers FC for a fee in the region of €7 million, signing a four-year deal that would keep him in England until 2026.

However, he adjusted slowly to life at Southampton, settling into a secondary role in the squad, but still drawing interest from Turkish clubs willing to meet his market value of €5 million.

Aribo Eyed by Turkish Clubs

Following the Saints’ relegation, the club looked to shed some financial weight by letting go of some players, with Aribo being one of the players they were willing to sell.

According to Dijital Aslanlar, Galatasaray aimed to sign Aribo when the summer transfer window opened, but their attempt to sign the Nigerian did not succeed.

Now, Besiktas appear to be winning the race to bring the 27-year-old attacker to Turkey, and if negotiations go well, he might join them in this summer transfer window.
