Belgian giants Club Brugge have set their sights on Nigerian winger Samuel Akere as they look to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the 2025/2026 season campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 21-year-old player has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv, where he has scored seven goals and provided six assists across all competitions.

The performances have not gone unnoticed; the former G12 FC academy player has piqued the interest of several European clubs, who are now monitoring his progress.

Sources close to the player have told Africa Foot that Club Brugge have initiated contact with Akere’s representatives in a bid to lure the Abeokuta-born talent to Belgium.

Should a deal materialise, the move would see Akere link up with fellow Nigerian Raphael Onyedika, who has established himself in the heart of Brugge’s midfield.

With just a year left on his current contract, Botev Plovdiv may be open to cashing in on the winger in the 2025 summer transfer window.

While negotiations are still in the early stages, Club Brugge are reportedly keen to get the deal over the line before the transfer window heats up.

Akere’s potential arrival could add much-needed creativity to Brugge’s frontline as they prepare for another push in the Belgian Pro League and European competitions.
