Travel firm Wakanow acquires NairaBox, expands into entertainment, lifestyle sector

Africa’s leading travel technology company, Wakanow Group, has announced the acquisition of NairaBox, a fast-growing Nigerian digital platform focused on entertainment and lifestyle, marking its official expansion beyond the travel sector.

The announcement, made through a statement by Heavyweight PR Agency, signifies Wakanow’s entry into the events and lifestyle space as part of its strategy to build a more integrated consumer experience across multiple sectors.

As part of the new structure, Wakanow also appointed Mr. Tobi Andero as Head of Business for NairaBox to drive growth and market expansion in the entertainment segment.

Speaking on the acquisition, Wakanow Group CEO, Mr. Bayo Adedeji, described the move as a strategic extension of the company’s offerings, aimed at deepening its connection with consumers.

“We see tremendous opportunity in the intersection of travel and entertainment. This acquisition allows us to offer deeper, richer experiences to our customers — not just where they travel, but how they live, enjoy, and engage with culture,” Adedeji said.

In his remarks, NairaBox CEO, Mr. Ugochukwu Jay Chikezie, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that it would enhance the platform’s ability to deliver seamless and innovative entertainment experiences.

“Together with Wakanow, we’re creating a future where access to unforgettable experiences — whether across cities or continents — becomes simpler, smarter, and more connected than ever,” Chikezie said.

With the addition of NairaBox, Wakanow expands its growing ecosystem of platforms, which already includes Kalabash54, Roomde, Onburd, and Trip Merchant, further strengthening its position as a leading provider of travel, lifestyle, and digital experiences across Africa.
