In a renewed offensive under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dismantled a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering arms and other items.

Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the operation was part of sustained clearance patrols aimed at dislodging terrorist elements from their hideouts across Taraba.

According to him, the troops, acting on credible intelligence, advanced through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages, clearing the areas of criminal elements. “During the advance, the troops received intelligence indicating the presence of bandits around TY Farm in Tati. The troops projected combat power to the area through Sabon Gida Tati and made contact with the criminals who fled after a brief exchange,” he stated.

Muhammad added that troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm and recovered one Dane gun and other items.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, assuring that the Brigade remains resolute in restoring peace and security across Taraba State.

He also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
