Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed at least 25 suspected terrorists in the country. They also rescued kidnapped persons, and recovered arms and ammunition in the last 24 hours.
A credible source at the Nigerian Army Headquarters told journalists on Monday in Abuja. The source said the operations were carried out by troops of the Joint Task Force North-“” East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Operation Fansan Yamma, Operation Whirl Stroke, and Operation Delta Safe.
“In the North-East, troops of 73 Battalion (Mechanised), supported by Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force, laid an ambush at a known terrorist crossing point in Sojiri, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno, on January 4.
“The troops made contact with the terrorists during the operation, neutralised five of them, recovered one AK-47 rifle, and rescued three hostages abducted by the terrorists,” the source added.
He also confirmed a successful air strike on an Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) terrorist enclave at Garin Mallam Idrissa, east of Garin Abu Ayuba, within the Nduva area of Borno State.
