The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that troops of Operation Hadin Kai had killed over 50 terrorists and recovered a large cache of weapons after repelling multiple attacks in Borno and Yobe states.
According to a statement by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, the operations took place between midnight and 4 a.m. in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo and Katarko.
“The troops stood their ground, fought gallantly and professionally, and repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy and bloody blow,” Uba stated.
He said the air component provided precision strikes and intelligence that enabled ground forces to achieve decisive results.
Recovered items included 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, grenades and thousands of ammunition rounds.
He said the military high command commended the troops for their bravery, saying:“Our soldiers have shown resilience, discipline and fighting spirit. This success reinforces the army’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the North-East.”
He assured that the military would “sustain pressure until all terrorist safe havens are dismantled.”
However, he revealed that some soldiers sustained injuries but are in stable condition, while pursuit of fleeing terrorists continues.
