Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Damboa–Komala road and arrested two individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists operating around Kirawa in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the operations took place between December 17 and 19, 2025.
According to the statement, “Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, under Operations Desert Sanity IV and V, have recorded further operational successes with the discovery and neutralisation of an IED and the arrest of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist logistics suppliers in Borno State.”
Lt. Col. Uba provided further details, “In one operation, troops of the 25 Brigade, while conducting a Main Supply Route patrol along the Damboa–Komala axis on 17 December, discovered an IED.
“The device was promptly secured and safely detonated, ensuring the safety of troops and commuters along the route.”
This development comes less than 24 hours after the army intercepted two pick-up vans suspected to be transporting logistics supplies to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the state.
Additional operations based on credible human intelligence led to the interception of vehicles moving items from Dapchi in Yobe State toward Magumeri in Borno State.
Recovered items included two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, bags of flour and charcoal, a mattress, tubers of yam, blankets, garri, assorted clothing, a power bank, six mobile phones, and cash of various denominations.
The drivers of the intercepted vehicles, along with the recovered materials, are currently in military custody for further interrogation to determine the full extent of their involvement and assist ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
