Trump Might Secure Third Term As Lawmaker Introduces New Constitutional Resolution

United States President Donald Trump might secure a third term in office if a new constitutional amendment proposed by Republican Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee is approved.

The resolution seeks to revise the 22nd Amendment, which currently limits presidents to two terms, by allowing a president to serve up to three terms—though no more than two consecutive four-year terms.

According to Fox News, Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee introduced the resolution, which seeks to modify the current restrictions in the U.S. Constitution, specifically the 22nd Amendment.

The proposed amendment reads, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, currently restricts presidents from serving more than two terms.

However, Rep. Ogles, in a statement on Thursday, argued that Trump is the only leader capable of reversing the nation’s decline and restoring its former strength.

Ogles emphasized that Trump should be granted the necessary time to achieve this ambitious goal.

The lawmaker, in a statement released to the media on Thursday, said, “Trump has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.

“To that end, I am proposing an amendment to the Constitution to revise the limitations imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms.

“This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs.”
