The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission, TSIEC, has reiterated its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent local government elections across the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to traditional rulers in the central geopolitical zone, TSIEC Chairman Dr. Philip Duwe, who spoke through one of the commission’s Commissioner, Johnson Warwar, said the Commission is fully prepared to uphold all electoral laws and best practices to ensure credible polls.
“Our commitment is to conduct a free, fair, and credible election that will be accepted by all Tarabans,” Warwar stated.
As part of its preparations, the Commission announced that training for ad-hoc staff will commence on October 18, 2025.
The local government elections is scheduled to hold on November 8, ahead of the expiration of the current councils’ tenure on November 18.
The visit to the traditional council, as made known by the Commission, forms part of TSIEC’s broader stakeholder engagement initiative, aimed at fostering collaboration with community leaders for a peaceful electoral process.
The Commission urged traditional rulers to play active roles in promoting peace and sensitizing their communities before, during, and after the elections.
In response, the traditional leaders lauded the commission’s proactive measures and pledged their support for a violence-free poll.
They also jointly commended governor Agbu Kefas for his strides in education, peace-building, aviation development, and infrastructure across the state.
Beyond traditional institutions, TSIEC, as gathered by DAILY POST, has also been engaging civil society organizations, non-governmental groups, women’s associations, and youth organizations to ensure widespread awareness and inclusivity in the electoral process.
