Ejigbo-born philanthropist, Babatunde Ajao Alan, through his foundation, Tunde Ajao Group (TAG), has distributed food items to 1,000 people during the December edition of his monthly food bank programme aimed at supporting vulnerable members of the community.

The event was held on Tuesday at Babalola Hall in Ejigbo, Osun State.

Speaking with journalists, Ajao explained that the food bank programme, which takes place at the end of every month, has been running consistently since August 2022, with December serving as its annual grand finale.

He said the initiative was driven by his long-standing desire to give back to society, noting that the programme is organised monthly for the benefit of his people.

Ajao stated that while the programme usually caters for at least 500 beneficiaries each month, the December edition was expanded to accommodate 1,000 people, adding that his motivation remains his love for the people.

He explained that the harsh economic situation and the level of hardship among residents influenced his decision to continue the initiative, stressing that personal contributions can make a meaningful difference where government efforts may fall short.

Ajao clarified that the food distribution is open to everyone and not restricted to any particular community or group, noting that beneficiaries came from various towns including Ola, Isudurin, and Inisha.

He added that there was no selection process, as the programme is open to all interested participants and conducted on a first-come basis through orderly queues.

Ajao also dismissed speculations linking the initiative to political ambition, stating that he has no interest in partisan politics.

One of the beneficiaries, Nusiratu Jimoh from Oke Ayan, expressed gratitude for the gesture and offered prayers for the organiser, acknowledging that the programme provides food support on a monthly basis.

Another beneficiary, Wemimo Beatrice, described Ajao as kind and compassionate, noting that he listens to people and consistently shows concern for their welfare.
