Members of the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party are currently holding a meeting with state chairmen at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the first of such gathering since the Ibadan Convention.
The forum of state chairmen, headed by Edo State PDP chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, has at least 29 members in attendance, each introducing themselves as chairmen of their respective states.
Today’s session marks the beginning of a series of engagements planned by the Turaki-led NWC as he moves to consolidate his leadership following his emergence as National Chairman at the Ibadan Convention.
Welcoming the participants, Kabiru Turaki encouraged the state chairmen to contribute bold and strategic ideas that will strengthen the party and propel it toward success and victory.
Turaki downplayed the actions of those described as “expelled and former members” of the PDP on the side of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike and Samuel Anyanwu, who on Sunday inaugurated a caretaker committee to manage the Party and sail the ship towards a National Convention.
Turaki called on the state chairmen to prepare for the tasks ahead, emphasizing that the PDP, under his leadership, will remain firm and consistent in its operations.
The meeting has since moved into a closed-door session.
