Two young women, cousins Tshiamo Moramaga (22) and Baleseng Moramaga (21), were found murdered in Mamelodi East, Tshwane, on Sunday morning, October 26, 2025.

The victims were discovered on Sompisi Street, Extension 17, with gunshot wounds to their heads, dressed similarly in white skirts and black shirts.

According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, SAPS Mamelodi East officers arrived at the scene around 6:15 a.m. and launched a double murder investigation.

The motive for the killings remains unknown, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Family members are devastated, with Itumeleng Moramaga, mother of Tshiamo, saying, “I’m so hurt. I’m shattered because she was the only daughter I had. I’m now left with two sons.”

Neighbors reported hearing arguments and gunshots around 4 a.m. on the night of the incident.

A message found on Baleseng’s phone suggested the cousins had been communicating shortly before the shooting, while Tshiamo’s phone is missing, possibly stolen.

The South African Police Service continues to appeal to the public for information that could help solve the case.
