Tyrese Says Divorce Cost Him Nearly $2 Million and Left $50M in Reputational Damage
Tyrese is finally closing a painful chapter and he is being very honest about what it cost him.
On Friday, December 26, Tyrese shared a long and emotional Instagram post revealing what he claims is the final financial toll of his divorce from ex wife Samantha Gibson.
According to Tyrese, the legal battle drained him both emotionally and financially.
Nearly $2 Million in Legal Fees
In his post, Tyrese said he spent almost $2 million on legal fees during what he described as one of the most emotionally draining seasons of his life.
He also claimed that beyond the courtroom costs, the divorce came with an even heavier price.
Tyrese alleged he endured nearly $50 million worth of public scrutiny, PR damage, and reputational attacks, all tied to the highly public and contentious divorce and child support battles that played out in front of the world.
Divorce Is Finally Official
Tyrese confirmed that the divorce has now been officially finalized, bringing an end to years of legal disputes that stretched far longer than the marriage itself.
Tyrese and Samantha married in 2017 and filed for divorce in 2020. While the relationship ended years ago, financial and legal disputes continued up until this year.
The former couple shares a daughter, Soraya, who has often been at the center of their court proceedings.

From Courtroom Stress to Celebration Mode
With the divorce now behind him, Tyrese says he is ready to move forward.
He revealed plans to celebrate his birthday and the New Year in Turks and Caicos, announcing a major white party celebration.
“First stop Turks and Caicos Birthday and New Years 2026,” he wrote. “Capricorn season. Birthday Dec 30th and a NYE 2026 birthday celebration LEGENDARY WHITE PARTY.”
In classic Tyrese fashion, he added that despite lawyers circling, he protected his finances and faith.
“I’m walking proof that the cup still runneth over,” he wrote, saying he feels liberated and grateful to have survived the ordeal.
Past Pain Still Lingers
Tyrese has never been shy about discussing how deeply the divorce affected him.
Last year, during an interview with Angela Yee on her Lip Service podcast, Tyrese admitted that the breakup cut deeper than any other relationship in his life.
“There’s nobody in the world who’s caught me more off guard and hurt me more than that woman,” he said at the time. He added that while he is not bitter, he no longer trusts her and chooses not to live in pain.
A Hard Lesson, A New Chapter
For Tyrese, this divorce was not just about money. It was about trust, public humiliation, and emotional survival.
Now that the legal fight is finally over, he appears focused on healing, celebrating life, and protecting his peace.
Whether fans agree with his perspective or not, one thing is clear.
This divorce cost Tyrese far more than most people could ever imagine.
