Tyrese Gibson’s ex-wife, Samantha Gibson, is asking a judge to throw the singer behind bars again over nearly $500,000 in unpaid legal fees stemming from their divorce.
In a new civil lawsuit filed Friday, Samantha accuses Tyrese of refusing to pay $399,512 in court-ordered attorney’s fees, which have now grown to $492,651 with interest.
“Mr. Gibson has the ability to pay the court ordered attorney’s fees and accrued interest and chooses to ignore the court’s order, as he has ignored and violated prior orders,” she claims in the filing, calling it a “blatant disregard” of the court.
She’s asking the judge to hold Tyrese in criminal contempt and sentence him to 20 days in jail.
The actor has not issued a public statement in response to her latest filing.
The former couple finalized their divorce in 2023, when Tyrese was ordered to pay $217,731 to The Gleklen Law Firm and $181,421 to Bloom Lines Alexander. Since then, the two have squabbled over missed payments, including a 2023 arrest order for unpaid child support and a lien filed against Tyrese’s Atlanta mansion. He was arrested in Fulton County back in September 2024 after he was found in contempt of court for failing to pay child support. He was released after paying the outstanding amount.
Now, Samantha’s lawyers are pushing for “severe sanctions” over his “history of violating court orders.”
