SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made history and struck twice tonight as Galatasaray defeated Bodo Glimt 3-1 in their UEFA Champions League clash in Istanbul.

The brace came few hours after Osimhen was included in a list of 10 nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards African Player of the Year.

The Nigeria international netted the two goals in the first half, before Yunus Akgan added the third in the second period, as Galatasaray secured a second consecutive win in the competition following the 1-0 victory over Liverpool.

Osimhen, the 2023 African Player of the Year, gave Galatasaray an early lead, netting after just three minutes.

With the goal, Osimhen became the first-ever Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive matches in major European competitions, breaking Burak Yilmaz’s record.

Osimhen extended Galatasaray’s lead in the 33rd minute, taking his tally for the Turkish champions nine goals in his last seven matches in European competitions, including the only goal in the victory over Liverpool.

The 26-year-old, who scored a hat-trick as the Super Eagles thrashed Benin Republic last week, has now registered five goals in eight Galatasaray matches this season.

In the other Champions League early kick-off today, Athletic Bilbao came from behind at home to beat Qarabag 3-1.
