He said the board discovered discrepancies linked to faulty server updates in its Lagos and south-east zones, which led to the failure to upload candidates’ responses during the first three days of the examination.

Oloyede said the problem, which was caused by one of the two technical service providers for the exercise, went undetected before the results were released.

He said 65 centres in Lagos (206,610 candidates) and 92 centres in the south-east zone (173,387 candidates) were affected, bringing the total number of impacted candidates to 379,997.

To address the issue, JAMB said it will conduct a rescheduled UTME for all affected candidates starting Friday, May 16.

We are proud of you – Unilorin

The Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Professor Wahab Egbewole in a statement issued on Thursday commended the JAMB registrar for showing an uncommon phenomenon in Nigeria as took responsibility of the 2025 UTME result mistakes.

The statement reads; “We hereby write to appreciate you on how the developments on the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination was handled by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board under your leadership.

“As a University, we want to put on record the fact that the Board approached the issues that arose on the result with truthfulness and nothing was hidden from the public. This approach demonstrated courage, honesty of purpose, integrity, strength of character, and on the whole a call to the younger generation to emulate these positive values.

“The admission of the error committed by one of the service providers culminating in the result that affected more than 300,000 candidates could have been laid at the doorstep of the service provider but you took full responsibility.

“This is an uncommon phenomenon in Nigeria. We pray that God will continue to lead you and grant you the grace to be of more invaluable service to our country.

“Well done sir and we are indeed very proud of you as our distinguished Alumnus and worthy Ambassador.”
