United Nigeria Airlines has issued an apology to Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola following the cancellation of a flight to Ekiti that left her stranded and disrupted her professional plans.
The actress had earlier accused the airline of repeatedly delaying her flight from Wednesday before ultimately cancelling it, an experience she said caused her serious financial and professional losses. Ogunmola revealed that she had already committed between ₦15 million and ₦20 million to preparations for her forthcoming film, TOC.
Responding to the incident on Friday, in a statement shared on Instagram, the airline’s public relations officer, Chibuke Uloka, explained that the disruption was caused by unscheduled aircraft maintenance. He said passengers were informed of the situation through email and text messages.
According to the airline, the affected flight, UN0623, scheduled for January 7, 2026, was later reintroduced on January 8, even though the Ekiti–Lagos route was not part of United Nigeria’s regular operations on that day.
The statement acknowledged the concerns raised by Ogunmola and other passengers, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused. The airline said it recognised the impact of flight delays and cancellations, particularly when they affect important personal and professional commitments.
United Nigeria Airlines added that it complied with all applicable Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Consumer Protection Regulations, including passenger care obligations during the disruption.
The airline reaffirmed its commitment to safety, operational excellence and improved customer service, while offering an unreserved apology to Ogunmola and all other affected passengers.
