Unknown gunmen kill councillorship candidate in Ogun

Adeyinka Adeleke, a councilorship candidate, on Saturday afternoon, October 12, was shot dead by yet-to-be-identified armed men in the Jide Jones area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

NaijaOnPoint.com.ng (NOP) learnt that the victim was a Councillorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Abeokuta South Local Government Ward 15.

The upcoming Local Government elections will take place on November 16

Confirming the incident, SP Odutola Omolola, the spokesperson of the command, said the assailants, who are suspected cultists, arrived in an unregistered Toyota Corolla Sport and armed with a pump action shotgun ad a pistol.

Omolola said the assailants opened fire on the victim and left him dead at the scene before taking to their heels.

The deceased was said to have been a transport union worker in the Panseke area of Abeokuta during his lifetime.
