Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naijaonpoint reports that the Plateau Governor was formally presented with a membership card from the APC today.

The governor’s defection was announced on Friday by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, in a post on social media.

Yilwatda welcomed Mutfwang to the ruling party, describing his move as a boost to the APC’s growing political strength.

He said: “On behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire family of the All Progressives Congress, I warmly welcome His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, into our great party, the APC.

“Your decision to join the progressive family is a bold and patriotic step, driven by a higher calling to serve the people of Plateau State and Nigeria.

“Today’s registration is a statement of hope and a commitment to a shared vision of inclusive development, peace, and prosperity for Plateau State.

“We receive you with open arms and a deep sense of partnership, and I assure you of our collective resolve to work closely with you, hand in hand to advance the interests of Plateau State, strengthen our party, and deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to our people.”

Recall that in a letter to his Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in the Mangu Local Government Area on December 29, 2025, Mutfwang had resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor cited the need for focused leadership, clear direction and improved service delivery.

Governor Mutfwang announced that his resignation is with immediate effect.

The letter, acknowledged by the ward leadership a day later, conveyed appreciation to the party for affording him the opportunity to serve within the democratic system.

Mutfwang thanked party leaders and supporters for their backing over the years, noting that prevailing political circumstances necessitated his decision.

“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative platform,” the governor said
