The United States has threatened to revoke visas of foreigners who celebrate or make light of the assassination of conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, even as officials said some online commentators in Germany, Brazil, the UK, South Africa, and Latin America are already under scrutiny.

Naijaonpoint recalls that Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot dead on Wednesday while addressing students at Utah Valley University.

US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, in a statement on 𝕏 on Thursday, said he had directed consular officials to monitor social media commentaries and act against those “praising, rationalising, or making light” of the killing.

Landau wrote, “In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.

“I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalising, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action. Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention so that the @StateDept can protect the American people.”

Landau also posted an image parodying the Batman signal, replacing the bat with the eagle from the US Great Seal, captioned “El Quitavisas,” Spanish for “The Visa Remover.”

Suspect In Custody After Manhunt

Meanwhile, US authorities confirmed that a 22-year-old man, Tyler Robinson, from southern Utah, had been arrested over Kirk’s killing.

According to reports, Robinson confessed to his father before being turned in by a family minister.

“Somebody very close to him turned him in. The person was involved with law enforcement, but was a person of faith, a minister, and brought him to a US Marshal who was fantastic. They drove into the police headquarters, and he’s there now,” US President, Donald Trump said, quoted by Reuters.
