Boniface was in Nigeria’s squad for the last 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, and he only got nine minutes of action as Victor Osimhen returned to his position as the first-choice striker. Before the last set of games for Nigeria, Boniface had constantly been maligned for his lack of goals at international level. The 24-year-old striker has registered 11 appearances for Nigeria, but he has just one goal to his name, and it was not a competitive one. Nonetheless, despite his struggles for Nigeria, Boniface has been shining at club level. He scored the second goal for Bayer Leverkusen as they defeated Bochum on Friday.
