John Obi Mikel believes Victor Osimhen’s long-standing dream of playing for Chelsea is not over, despite the Nigerian striker’s recent move to Galatasaray and ongoing interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, Footynaija.com reports.

Chelsea pursued Osimhen last summer but failed to secure a deal due to financial constraints. The Blues also refrained from signing a striker in January, and injuries to both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu have left them short of options up front.

Mikel, speaking on his Obi One Podcast, remains confident that Osimhen could still end up at Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea has always been his club,” Mikel said. “He has come out open to say it’s his childhood club, growing up, he’s always wanted to play for the club, his idol is Didier Drogba.

“He loves the way he played. He made it pretty clear that this is a club he wants to come to. Unfortunately, we didn’t get it done last summer, but listen, you never know. I don’t think the door is shut completely.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United and PSG have reportedly tabled verbal offers for Osimhen, who has scored 17 goals and registered five assists in 23 appearances for Galatasaray this season.

The 25-year-old left Napoli on a season-long loan after a failed move last summer, and his release clause has now been reduced from €130m to €75m.

United, struggling for goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, see Osimhen as a potential solution.

PSG, in need of a natural striker after loaning Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus, also have their sights on the Nigerian star. However, they face stiff competition from several top clubs across Europe.

With Chelsea still in the mix, Osimhen’s next move remains a major talking point ahead of the summer transfer window.
