A resurfaced clip of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk is gaining new attention after Nicki Minaj made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s America Fest, an event held in Kirk’s honor.
In the earlier video, Kirk dismisses Minaj as “not a good role model,” arguing that the subject matter of her music made her an inappropriate guest for a conservative audience.
During the exchange, he also revealed that he was not a huge fan of her catalog, criticizing her while mistakenly attributing a hit song she did not release to her.

“Black culture is being held captive by influences, songs and role models. Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, I don’t think that’s a good role model for 18-year-old Black girls,” he said at the time. “I don’t think that songs that are talking about glorifying wet female genitalia — I don’t know which one wrote that song.”
The clip has since gone viral, especially after Minaj appeared alongside Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk, who now leads Turning Point USA.
At the conference, Minaj addressed how she is often perceived, saying, “People think maybe that I’m mean,” and adding, “When you have a strong presence as a woman, it’s easy to just box you into one category.” She made clear she is unbothered by the labeling. “I don’t care about it. I really don’t,” she told the crowd. “In fact, I love that they misunderstand me now.”
Her remarks praising Donald Trump and referencing JD Vance drew additional scrutiny, with critics accusing her of overlooking Kirk’s past comments and ruining her career by sitting down with Erika.
