THE deluge of financial rewards continued for the Super Falcons lass night as the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) champions were gifted cash by Super Eagles stars and the Governors Forum.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, each of the 24 Super Falcons got N1 million each from six players of the Super Eagles: captain William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo.

Also, each of the players and their 11-person technical and administrative crew received N10m each from the Governors’ Forum, with each of the 36 states giving out N10m.

President Bola Tinubu had kicked off the cash rewards spree by giving the Super Falcons $100,000 each, apartments in Abuja and the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour.

The Super Falcons produced a stunning fightback on Saturday night in Rabat to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final and regain the trophy.

The victory completed the Super Falcons’ ‘Mission X’ as they secured a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

It is testament to their utter domination of the competition that the Nigerian ladies have won 10 of 13 editions and have never gone two editions without winning the trophy.

Apart from claiming the title in Morocco, the Super Falcons also won the main individual awards, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade earning the Player of the Tournament prize, Chiamaka Nnadozie emerging as Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Justine Madugu bagging the Coach of the Tournament honour.
