THE Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire emerged as champions of the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Boys Cup after a 1-0 victory over Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in the final in Accra, Ghana last night.
The Ivorian boys had a perfect tournament, winning all their five matches.
They outscored Burkina Faso 2-1 in their first match, beat Niger Republic and Togo 1-0 and 2-0 respectively in their other two matches in the group phase, and came from behind to defeat host nation Ghana 2-1 in the semi-finals.
Seven-time African champions Flying Eagles made it a contest in Wednesday’s final, but Cote d’Ivoire finally found a way through.
Flying Eagles goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt dropped the ball from a free-kick in added time, allowing an alert Zakaria Tindano to poke into the net for the only goal of the encounter.
