The FA Cup dream is over for Super Eagles duo Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi after Fulham suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals, Footynaija.com reports.

Eberechi Eze was the standout performer, scoring the opener and assisting the second to guide Palace into the semifinals.

Iwobi and Bassey, fresh from Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, were both named in Fulham’s starting lineup. Eze, who has Nigerian roots but scored his first goal for England in a 3-0 win over Latvia this week, also started for Palace.

It was the England international who broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a stunning finish, cutting inside from distance before firing a low shot off ... and into the net.

Four minutes later, Eze turned provider, delivering a low cross that Ismaila Sarr bundled past the goalkeeper to double Palace’s lead.

Bassey played the full 90 minutes, while Iwobi featured for 82 before making way for Tom Cairney. The former Arsenal man was still on the pitch when Eddie Nketiah sealed the win in the 75th minute, completing a commanding display from Palace.

With Iwobi and Bassey out, only one Nigerian international remains in the FA Cup — Ola Aina.

The Nottingham Forest defender is expected to feature when the Tricky Trees face Brighton in another quarterfinal later tonight.

Of the trio, only Iwobi has lifted the FA Cup, winning it with Arsenal in 2017.
