Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has stirred fresh attention online after reacting to a video of his performance during Fenerbahçe’s 4-1 win over Trabzonspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

A clip shared on Twitter showcased the former Queens Park Rangers man dazzling with his skills during the Turkish Super Lig clash.

The Super Eagles fullback, Osayi-Samuel, reacting to the video, quoted the highlight video on his feed, stating, “Doing what I love.”

Despite the optimism surrounding his recent form, the 27-year-old’s return to the English Premier League remains uncertain.

Speaking to Soccernet.ng in an earlier interview, Osayi-Samuel made no secret of his desire to return to England after his contract with Fenerbahçe expires.

“I think everyone knows that my ambition is to play English football, to play in the [English] Premier League. No disrespect, Fenerbahçe have done so much for me in Turkey. But my ambition is to play in the Premier League. So when I feel that the time is right, I will take it,” he said.

However, the Nigerian international’s immediate future may still lie in Istanbul. In a quote revealed by Fenerbahçe’s official website, Osayi-Samuel admitted he has faced a challenging season with injuries and limited game time but expressed his desire to keep fighting for his place at the club.

“I had some serious injuries. I didn’t get any playing time in some games. The coach made that decision. It was a bit disappointing for me. I really want to play for this team. My contract ends at the end of the year. I will talk to the club president about it. They said they will offer me a new contract. Let’s see what happens at the end of the season.” he said, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Fenerbahçe have already tabled a lucrative new deal in a bid to secure Osayi-Samuel’s future. The new proposal reportedly includes a significant salary increase from his current €2.5 million deal.

Talks between the player’s representatives and Fenerbahçe’s board are said to be progressing well, with the Turkish giants determined to ward off interest from several European clubs, including teams from the Premier League.
