Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, ramped up their preparations for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a resounding 10-0 victory over ANWFCC All Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Wednesday, Footynaija.com reports.

The win is the team’s second high-scoring friendly, following a 6-1 triumph over Nakamura FA last week. Chidi Harmony, Queen Joseph, Shakirat Moshood, and Chisom Nwachukwu were among the scorers in that match.

Harmony, in electric form, opened the scoring in the 13th minute against All Stars and doubled her tally with a well-taken finish in the 30th. Moshood and Joseph added their names to the scoresheet before halftime, giving the Flamingos a commanding 4-0 lead.

The second half saw a flurry of goals as Moshood grabbed her second five minutes after the restart before Harmony completed her hat-trick in the 63rd minute. Temilade Fafore struck twice in quick succession, while Shakirat Bashiru and Anuoluwapo Awotidoye rounded off a dominant display.

With a crucial two-legged qualifier against South Africa on March 7 and 16, this emphatic victory will serve as a major confidence boost for the Flamingos as they seek to secure a World Cup ticket.

South Africa’s Bantwana will host the first leg before arriving in Nigeria for the return fixture.

The Bantwana are aiming to qualify for their third appearance at the U17 World Cup while Nigeria have participated at all but one of the eight editions of the Mundial.
