WATCH: Okoronkwo shines in Canada as Ajibade debuts for PSG

Esther Okoronkwo delivered again for AFC Toronto, while Rasheedat Ajibade, Jennifer Echegini, and Rofiat Imuran all grabbed the spotlight for their clubs on a busy weekend for Nigeria’s Super Falcons abroad, Soccernet.ng reports.

Okoronkwo, who won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, struck the decisive blow as Toronto edged Halifax 1-0 in the Northern Super League.

In the 35th minute, the 26-year-old forward caressed the ball with her head, slipped free of her marker and squeezed a low finish past the keeper for her third goal contribution in five matches since returning from Morocco.

Substituted in the 67th minute, her effort proved enough to keep Toronto top of the standings.

In France, PSG handed debut to Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade while international teammate Jennifer Echegini provided the assist in the club’s 1-1 draw away to RC Lens.

Echegini set up Merveille Kanjinga’s opener in the 24th minute against RC Lens, before earning a yellow card and being withdrawn late on.

Ajibade, who signed for PSG this summer after four years at Atletico Madrid, came on for the second half as the Parisians were held 1-1 by the newly promoted side.

Over in England, Rofiat Imuran started for London City Lionesses as they made their Barclays Women’s Super League bow at the Emirates.

The promoted side stunned Arsenal with a Kosovare Asllani penalty but could not hold on.

Goals from Olivia Smith and Chloe Kelly turned it around before the break, and late strikes from Stina Blackstenius and Frida Maanum sealed a 4-1 win for the champions. Imuran impressed with her runs down the left before being forced off with a knock in the closing stages.
