Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Michael Awoniyi, showed his humanitarian side by paying for the Iftar meals of fasting Muslims in the club’s community, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old has started just two Premier League games for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side this season and isn’t having his best career stint, but yet, he wears a smile.

Away from the pitch, Awoniyi treated the Nottingham community to a meal yesterday evening. The meal served as Iftar for the Muslim, and a fast break for the Christians in the area, who are currently in the lent period as well.

“I’m just sharing love to the community. Just trying to spread love, to show this month that is so important to my Muslim brothers and also the Lent month to the Christians, and it’s a way of giving back to the community and bringing everyone together with love.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s your time or your resources. It’s just a way that everyone can be powerful to each other, and growing up, that has been my goal, and it has always been in my heart to assist in my little way.

“It’s also to help develop the next generation of kids, and it’s something that I hold dearly, and it is very important to me,” the former Union Berlin forward said following the execution of the generous act.”

Despite Awoniyi’s struggles on the football pitch, his willingness to give back to the community is a testament to the character of the Super Eagles star. It’s also something he’s well known for back in Nigeria, as he’s been engaged in several humanitarian acts of selflessness.
