We did not seal PDP’s National Secretariat – Police

Nigeria Police

The Nigeria Police Force has debunked reports that its officers sealed off the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, June 30.

The police command in the Federal Capital Territory described such reports as false.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 30, the spokesperson for the FCT police command, Josephine Adeh, said officers of the Force were only deployed to the PDP Secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5 for security purposes.

Adeh said the officers were at the location to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of the general public in line with the law.

“The FCT Police Command is aware of the news making rounds alleging that the Police sealed off the PDP Secretariat in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that this information is false, misleading, and does not reflect the true situation on the ground.

“Police officers were only deployed to the venue to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in line with their constitutional mandate. At no time was the Secretariat sealed off by the Police,” Adeh stated.

She also called on media organisations to ensure that they verify information through the FCT Command’s public relations officer before dissemination.
