We Don’t Have Any Business With Them – ADC Waves Off Seyi Tinubu Governorship Talks

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that it is not concerned about Seyi Tinubu’s political ambition.

The ADC chairman, George Ashiru, stated this while responding to rumours that Seyi plans to contest the Lagos State governorship election.

The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, had said Seyi Tinubu is qualified to contest any political office in Nigeria, including the governorship of Lagos State.

If Seyi Tinubu’s father is the President, what stops him from running for Lagos State Governor? Seyi Tinubu can even challenge his father in the next election,” Bwala said.

Reacting to Bwala’s submission during an interview with Punch, Ashiru stated the opposition party was focused on putting forward an alternative governorship candidate “not based on inheritance or some sort of lineage”.

He stated that the party had been too busy with its affairs to concern itself with the internal politics of the ruling APC.

Ashiru said, “We have not been following that, but whatever the ruling party (the APC) wants to do in terms of their candidacy is their business.

We would discuss our own plan to bring forth the right candidate that is not based on inheritance or some sort of lineage, but a democratically elected candidate within the party, and a candidate that people can associate with as a representative of the people. Whatever the APC does within itself, we don’t have any business with them, but we have the offer of a credible alternative to Lagosians.”
