According To Our Reporter, former SOKAPU President, Dr. Jonathan Asake, has disclosed how the Kaduna State government under Nasir El-Rufai allegedly threatened to arrest him after his group reported deadly attacks in Southern Kaduna.

In an interview with The Sun on Saturday, January 24, 2026, Asake said violence in July 2020 began with the killing of 17 people in Gwenaorogo before spreading to other communities, where 35 persons were murdered in a single day and over 5,000 displaced.

He explained that after their report, intimidation followed. Refusing to be silenced, Asake said he mobilised 21 media houses, arranged transport, and led journalists to the affected areas by 7am the next day. He stated that the media presence helped expose the humanitarian crisis and shield them from arrest. Watch full report
