“We have been challenged spiritually, physically and financially” – Ini Edo breaks silence following father’s burial amid backlash for attending a birthday party in Ghana

Nollywood actress Ini Edo has penned an appreciation post following the successful burial of her father.

Kemi Filani reported in February that the movie star had announced the death of her father, Elder Edo Jonathan Ekim.

On Friday, the movie star and her siblings laid him to rest in Akwa Ibom, his hometown. Rita Dominic, Ruth Kadiri, Nancy Isime, Lilian Afegbai, Uche Jombo, Real Warri Pikin, Desmond Elliot, and IK Ogbonna attended the burial.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Ini described her late father as a man after God’s heart, a lover of life, and the heart of the party. She also thanked the people and government of Akwa Ibom State for their support and show of love.

Ini Edo also appreciated the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom, her colleagues and friends and her family.

In a message to her family, she noted how they have been challenged spiritually, physically and financially, however, she is grateful for the upbringing of love, resilience, fear of God and togetherness that kept them going. Ini expressed how proud she is of her and her family as she believed they made their proud.

And to my dearest family, since Daddy passed in December, we have been challenged spiritually, physically and financially. I am grateful for the upbringing of love, resilience, fear of God and togetherness instilled in us by our parents that kept us going and level-headed through it all. I am so proud of us, and I am sure we made Daddy proud. I pray we all live in Good health, and may our children have the privilege of doing the same for us when the time is right.
