The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that it has intelligence report about the recent airstrikes carried out by the United States government against terrorists in Sokoto State.
The Police, however, added that it won’t disclose such matters to the public, as it is a defence matter and the defence would talk about it.
The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He confirmed that there was a cooperation between security forces in Nigeria and the American government and that the operation was fully sanctioned by President Bola Tinubu.
“We engage a lot in intelligence gathering, not just intelligence sharing. As the Police Force, we know certain things about the strikes, but we don’t want to talk about them. We decline to talk about that particular operation.
“There was a cooperation, but we would rather leave it as a defence matter that the defence would talk about,” the police spokesman stated.

The Department of Defence said “multiple ISIS terrorists” were killed in the strikes.
The federal government of Nigeria also confirmed that it was aware of the operation and provided intelligence to the American government to carry out the strikes.
