The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki, SAN, has boated that the party will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and reclaim the presidency in 2027.
Turaki, who chairs the faction of the PDP backed by the party’s governors, made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with the chairmen of the PDP state chapters.
“We are going to reclaim Nigeria from the inept APC which has taken the country backwards from the 16 golden years of the PDP,” the chairman said.
Addressing the gathering of PDP state chairmen, Turaki, in a veiled reference to the PDP faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), described the camp as a group of impostors.
He said, “Some people claim to be members of our party, but the whole world knows that they are impostors who the party had expelled.
“If all our state chairmen are with us, then who are the people against us. People now know who the true leaders of the PDP are. We are the leaders.”
The faction has lined up a day-long party activities aimed at consolidating its hold on the PDP leadership structure.
Part of the activities lined up for the day includes the presentation of certificate of return to its candidate in the June 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, Dr Oluwole Oluyede.
The leadership is also billed to meet with the PDP serving members of the National Assembly, the league of former ministers and former members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
