‘We Look Forward To Having More Governors, Senators In Our Party’ – Yilwatda

Nentawe Yilwatda

Newly-appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday assumed duties at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, with a bold proclamation that the 2027 general elections are already sealed in favour of the ruling party.

Addressing members of the National Working Committee (NWC) during his maiden engagement as chairman, Yilwatda said the APC would leave nothing to chance in consolidating its hold on power.

Naijaonpoint reports that the former governorship candidate in Plateau State stated that his focus will be on strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and ensuring electoral dominance from local governments to the federal level.

He said, “Our doors are open to welcome members. We look forward to having more governors, more senators, more national assembly members, more local government chairmen and more Nigerians in our party.

“We will expand beyond bounds. I am sure by God’s grace, I am sure that 2027 is a done deal for APC.”

He also promised not to betray the trust reposed in him by the party’s leadership and members.

Yilwatda said, “I count it a rare privilege and I must appreciate God, appreciate the leadership of our party, appreciate our governors, National Assembly, National Working Committee members and all the teeming loyal supporters of APC for resting this burden of trust on me.

“I count it a trust and a burden at the same time because it is quite heavy, it is large, I know that I have people around me, veterans, supporters, friends as members of National Working Committee. I have worked with them before, I have virtually met all the members of the National Working Committee. I have met them in person in one form of service or the other, either coming here to monitor election or going for primary election elsewhere or doing campaigns in several states together with them.

“You have been my friends, you have been my partners and I expect nothing less from you that we all join hands together as a team, work together to ensure that we expand this party, we will increase membership, we will deepen technology that you already started and ensure that this party is transparent, this party enjoys the support of Nigerians and even beyond the shores of Nigeria to diaspora, recognize all the members of the party who are working for us too, it is you that has made this party tick.”
