Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is lamenting the industry’s condition as she compares it to Hollywood.

The legendary actress revealed that she has been working in Hollywood for 4 years now, has done 2 test projects, and gets monthly residuals. Meanwhile, in Nollywood, where she spent 30 years and did 310 projects, she got no residuals.

The mother of four stated that Nollywood needs structure.

“Just 4 years in Hollywood.
2 test projects
Monthly residuals.

30 years in Nollywood.
310 + projects
No residuals.

Nollywood needs structure”.

Sometimes back, media personality, Daddy Freeze had tackled Nkem Owoh for commending the efforts of Nollywood practitioners in making our movies highly competitive with foreign movies. Freeze stated that his opinion was untrue as Nollywood is still way behind. Urging the veteran to tell the truth, he opined that Nkem Owoh’s thoughts are a representation of an idealized vacuum.

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo Kanayo had called out Nollywood filmmakers who run to the steaming giant platform YouTube for ruining the foundation of the movie industry by creating low-quality content.

Similarly, Yoruba actress Debbie Shokoya had cried out to her colleagues who produce low-quality unworthy movies on the giant streaming app, YouTube. She decried the rate at which people condemn the Yoruba film genre and how she was able to confirm the accusations. She encouraged her colleagues to change the narrative about the Yoruba industry and allow every department for their job.
