‘We need to show a bit more love’ – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage

Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has encouraged people to embrace the journey of self-discovery while promoting kindness, especially in today’s social media-driven world.

In a recent interview with Dose of Society, the Afrobeats icon expressed her concerns about how social media distorts reality and contributes to feelings of insecurity. She urged individuals to show more love to others and to themselves, highlighting that social media can make it easy to feel overwhelmed by unnecessary pressure.

“My message to the world is that we need to show a bit more love,” she stated. “When I look at social media, I see a lot of make-believe. We all know it’s not real, yet we put pressure on ourselves when all we need to do is love a little more. It’s important to remember that social media is only a fragment of people’s real lives. When you put things into perspective, you start appreciating yourself more and living in the moment.”

Savage also reflected on the advice she would give her younger self, emphasizing the importance of persistence and self-trust.

“Figure it out, get up, and figure it out. I know you think everyone has the manual to life, but the only thing you truly owe yourself is to wake up, be present, and try. Even if you fail or succeed, you will figure it out. Nobody has your life. We may have examples, templates, and people we look up to, but no one shares your exact dreams. So, figure it out for yourself. If God wakes me up, I have the opportunity to figure it out.”
