The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that normalcy has been restored to the state.

The governor stated this while addressing his followers at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Naijaonpoint reports that Fubara has resumed his duties after a six-month suspension imposed on him by President Bola Tinubu.

Upon arrival in Port Harcourt, the governor was welcomed by his teeming supporters.

Speaking to his supporters, he appreciated them for standing by him during his six-month suspension.

“I appreciate everyone who gave support to bring normalcy back to Rivers State.

“I know everybody wants to hear something from me. In fact, I expected it when I landed.

“I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to give those things that made you people love us,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has insisted that President Bola Tinubu has the power and authority to declare a state of emergency in a state

The Special Adviser on Media and Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Sunday Dare, stated this while reacting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) comment on Rivers State.

Speaking via a statement, Dare argued that the Nigerian constitution “under Section 305, states that the President has the power, and the duty, to act when law and order are under grave threat.”

He dismissed the ADC submission as nothing more than nuisance politics, exposing the pedantry and verbosity of their recent media outings.

He said, “ADC’s claims of “autocracy” and “manipulation” collapse under simple fact. The emergency framework is constitutional, not whimsical.

“Rivers officials were never reduced to “appointees” they were shielded from chaos and reinstated once order returned. To accuse the President of undermining federalism is laughable; as a former Governor, no Nigerian alive presently, has fought harder for state autonomy than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Protecting Rivers is protecting Nigeria.

“What ADC offers Nigerians is late pontification and empty noise. What the President delivered is stability, the return of democratic institutions, and peace in the Rivers State.

“Nigerians can see the difference: President Tinubu acted right. That is what posterity will remember him for.”
