A National Vice Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Senator Suleiman Nazif Gamawa, has described the party as a platform capable of addressing the hardships facing Nigerians, asserting that it can produce credible candidates to challenge both the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Gamawa made the remarks on Monday during an interaction with journalists in Bauchi, saying the ADC would be a significant force in the 2027 general elections, regardless of whether it currently has serving governors.
He cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory over an incumbent as an example of how a party without governors can still succeed.
“The people have already believed that a new political movement is the option, so ADC is the saviour. We are giving them one blow,” he said.
He added that the ADC faces no internal challenges and called on politicians dissatisfied with their current parties to join the movement. He also promised the party would avoid practices common in other parties, such as charging high fees for nomination forms.
“We are not going to be like them. We will give a chance to every well-meaning Nigerian,” Gamawa said.
With over 30 years of political experience and a past tenure as Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Gamawa expressed confidence in the party’s leadership to position ADC for victory.
He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and participate in the elections, stressing that voting is both a right and a responsibility. He warned that Nigerians would continue to face the consequences of poor leadership if they fail to vote wisely.
Gamawa also criticized the dominance of politics by a few individuals and reiterated the ADC’s commitment to mentoring young people interested in leadership and political participation.
