Wendell Pierce Defends Meghan Markle — Slams British Gossip Writer For Calling Her “Difficult”
Actor Wendell Pierce is stepping up to defend his former co-star Meghan Markle, after a British gossip columnist reignited old claims that the Duchess of Sussex was “difficult” to work with during her time on the hit TV series Suits.
The respected actor, who played Robert Zane (Meghan’s on-screen father) on the long-running USA Network show, had strong words for those spreading what he called “false and mean-spirited lies” about his former castmate.
A Gossip Column Sparks Controversy
The latest controversy started when a well-known British columnist published a story suggesting that Markle, 43, was “a challenge” on set and that her “diva behavior” supposedly rubbed people the wrong way.
The article quickly gained traction across social media and British tabloids, many of which have been notoriously critical of Meghan since she joined the royal family.
But Wendell Pierce — who actually worked with her for years — wasn’t having it.
Taking to social media, the Jack Ryan and The Wire star blasted the report as pure fabrication, saying Meghan was nothing but professional, kind, and dedicated during their time filming together.

Pierce wrote that he had “never once seen Meghan act unprofessionally or unkindly” and that she brought warmth and respect to every scene they shared.
He added, “People who spread these stories don’t know her. Meghan was a joy to work with — prepared, gracious, and committed to her craft. Anyone saying otherwise is lying.”
Pierce also called out the “toxic tabloid culture” that has followed Meghan for years, saying that constant attacks on her character have more to do with bias and resentment than truth.
A Royal Target
Ever since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex, she’s faced relentless scrutiny from the British press.
From her fashion choices to her interviews, Meghan has been accused of everything from being “too outspoken” to “too private.” The latest round of gossip — aimed at her acting days before royalty — struck many as yet another attempt to paint her as a troublemaker.
Supporters online quickly applauded Wendell for standing up for his former co-star. One fan tweeted, “Finally, someone who actually worked with Meghan is speaking up. The lies have gone on long enough.”
