Wendy Williams expected to be FREE from conservatorship by year’s end, lawyer says
Media Take Out has learned that Wendy Williams may be just weeks away from getting her life back.
According to her attorney Joe Tacopina, the former daytime TV queen is “on track” to be released from her court-ordered conservatorship before the end of the year, Page Six reports. Tacopina appeared on ABC’s Nightline, where he made the bold announcement.
Lawyer Says New Medical Tests Prove the Diagnosis Was Wrong
Tacopina says Wendy does NOT have frontotemporal dementia, despite what her previous care team claimed.
“Wendy does not have frontotemporal dementia, so that should be game, set, match,” he told the program, explaining that multiple guardianship specialists have already begun preparing for the next legal steps.
According to him, Wendy has been assured that by year’s end, the guardianship will be over.
New Neurologist Confirms: No Signs of Dementia
This update follows last month’s revelation that a top New York neurologist re-tested Wendy and found no trace of the condition she was diagnosed with two years ago.
Sources told TMZ that the new evaluation directly contradicted her original diagnosis, which had suggested Wendy suffered from a degenerative brain disorder affecting personality and language.
The updated medical report was sent to her legal team in late October, and Tacopina says he plans to demand a jury trial to fully challenge the original findings.
How the Conservatorship Began
Wendy has been under guardianship since 2022, when Wells Fargo contacted a New York Supreme Court judge with concerns about her well-being while she was staying at an undisclosed treatment center. Her family claimed at the time that they were unable to reach her.
Now, with a clean bill of neurological health, Tacopina says the conservatorship should have “no legal leg to stand on.”
