‘We’re Going To Apply The Big Stick If You Don’t Come To Work’ – Wike Warns FCTA Workers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to ensure that workers of the FCT Administration who disobey will face the wrath of the law from tomorrow.

Naijaonpoint reports that Wike made this known while addressing the media in his office on Tuesday, stating that he would use the big stick on workers who fail to show up for work.

Wike also threatened that any worker who attempts to block the gate of the office premises will be made a scapegoat.

He said, “When man disobeys the law, are there no consequences for disobeying the law? Must we allow people flagrantly disobey the law?

“I’m giving them this window because I’m still in the office today, from tomorrow if you don’t come to work, we are going to apply the big stick.

“And from tomorrow if we see anybody who says he wants to block the gate, we will make you a scapegoat. The law must take its place.”

Wike’s warning comes after the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday granted an interlocutory injunction filed by the Minister and the FCT Administration, compelling workers under the Joint Union Action Committee to suspend their ongoing strike.

The irate workers who gathered on Tuesday, however, said they were no longer on strike, stressing that they would stay home.

Staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, insisted on not resuming despite a court order mandating them to suspend the industrial action.
