Raphael Onyedika, who is wanted by West Ham United, have 17 competitive appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, scoring just once…

English Premier League outfit West Ham United are ready to revive their interest in Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika when the transfer window reopens in January, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old defensive anchor has been on the Hammers’ radar for months, with initial discussions taking place last summer.

Those talks eventually broke down after his club, Club Brugge, slapped a staggering €40 million price tag on him, which immediately cooled negotiations.

Other suitors circle for Onyedika

Onyedika’s performances in Belgium have not gone unnoticed across Europe. He was strongly linked with AC Milan, while Fenerbahçe also explored a deal before withdrawing when Brugge refused to budge on their valuation.

Despite the failed approaches, the Super Eagles international remains one of the most sought-after midfielders heading into the new year, particularly for West Ham, who have returned to the market to secure the signature of the Nigerian.

Will West Ham meet the hefty fee?

The big question for West Ham is whether they are ready to match Brugge’s demands. The London side are keen to bolster its midfield after recent squad concerns, but €40 million is a significant outlay.

Still, the Hammers have shown in past windows that they are not afraid of bold investments, and Onyedika’s profile as a young and versatile midfielder makes him an attractive option.

The coming months are expected to determine if West Ham’s renewed push turns into a record-breaking deal or another missed opportunity.
