Arrest Warrant Issued for Emmy-Winning Actor Timothy Busfield Over Alleged Abuse of Minor

Hollywood is reeling after news broke that an arrest warrant has been issued for actor and director Timothy Busfield, best known for his roles in Field of Dreams and the television classic thirtysomething. Authorities in New Mexicoallege Busfield is connected to a case involving inappropriate conduct with a minor.

Busfield, 68, now faces two felony counts of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse, according to court documents obtained by local media. As of Friday afternoon, it was unclear whether he had been taken into custody.

How the Investigation Began

According to the warrant filed by Albuquerque Police on January 4, the investigation started in November 2024when an officer was dispatched to University of New Mexico Hospital after a doctor contacted law enforcement.

At the hospital, the officer reportedly spoke with two parents who said their children—two boys who were both child actors on the television series The Cleaning Lady in 2024—had interactions with Busfield while he was working as a director on the show.

The parents told police that Busfield allegedly grew close to the children during that time.

Allegations Involving the Children

According to the affidavit, Busfield allegedly encouraged the boys to refer to him as “Uncle Tim.” The document further states that when the children’s mother later asked them if anyone had ever touched them in a way that made them uncomfortable, the children reportedly responded, “You mean like Uncle Tim?”

These statements are included in the warrant and form the basis of the criminal allegations. Law enforcement has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

Busfield has not yet entered a plea, and authorities have not released additional details beyond what appears in the court filing.

A Long Hollywood Career Now Overshadowed

Busfield has worked in the entertainment industry for decades, with more than 700 credits as an actor, producer, and director. He won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1991 for his role as Elliot on thirtysomething and appeared in major projects including The West WingRevenge of the Nerds (1984), Sneakers (1992), Quiz Show (1994), and Field of Dreams.

The allegations mark a dramatic and troubling turn for a performer long associated with respected, mainstream television and film.

No Public Statement Yet

As of Friday, Busfield’s representatives had not issued a public response. Local outlets reported that attempts to contact his team for comment were unsuccessful.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Busfield has been booked, and the legal process is still unfolding.

What Happens Next

At this stage, the charges remain allegations, and Busfield is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, the seriousness of the claims and the issuance of an arrest warrant have already sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.

As more details emerge, this case is expected to draw significant public attention.

Media Take Out will continue to follow the story as it develops.
