“We’ve made every effort to return the bride price” – Regina Daniels’ kinsmen write open letter to Senator Ned Nwoko

The kinsmen of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels have written an open letter to her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko.

In a screenshot of their message posted by filmmaker Stanley Ontop, her kinsmen noted how marriage isn’t by force. According to them, if a woman decides not to continue in the marriage, custom demands that her family return the bride price, which they have done, but he has refused to accept it.

Regina’s kinsmen noted that if a man declines to go collect the bride price, it is within the community’s right to deposit it at a recognised location. The arrest and intimidation of the woman’s family is unacceptable and oppressive.

They demanded that Ned Nwoko take corrective action within 48 hours by acknowledging and accepting the return of the bride price and ensuring the immediate release and safety of all family members involved.

Kemi Filani reported on Monday night that Daniels had cried out to the public after Ned allegedly arrested her siblings. She said Ned wants her to return to him, and return to rehab. Regina noted how she was trying to be the bigger person, as she told him to leave her family alone.

In another post, she said her brother had been beaten like a criminal by the Nigerian police. She questioned what the violent arrest was for. Regina noted that Ned thinks he has power, connections, and money, and believes she doesn’t.

Recall that last week, Regina had alleged that she was facing domestic violence in her marriage to Ned Nwoko. In a viral clip, the actress was seen crying as she stated that in her husband’s house she isn’t a queen.

Ned, in a public statement, had attributed the tension to what he described as her “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.” According to Nwoko, his efforts to help his wife seek professional treatment are always resisted. The senator further alleged that Regina had engaged in violent behaviour at home, claiming she assaulted three domestic staff and destroyed property.

Their younger sister, Destiny Daniels, had shared photos of the scars the actress got from Ned, as she debunked reports of her reconciliation with Ned.

Since leaving her husband’s house, Daniels announced that she had spoiled herself with a new house in Ikoyi, Lagos. Sharing photos of the mansion, she revealed that she needed a roof over her head, so she got a house for herself and her family.
