Now that Salah has extended his deal, Liverpool might soft-pedal in their pursuit of a new forward. Lookman has been touted as a potential replacement in recent weeks following his impressive performances for Atalanta which has seen him produce 50 goals and 22 assists in 112 appearances across all competitions.

However, the Reds might not move for him just yet because he will not want to sit on the bench and play second-fiddle after all his achievements at Atalanta. But they could push for the deal if Luis Diaz leaves, as that will open a vacancy on the left wing, which is Lookman’s main position.

Meanwhile, Liverpool might still prioritise a transfer for Victor Osimhen. The Reds desperately need a new striker, as Darwin Nunez has been poor this season, while Diogo Jota has been inconsistent due to his injury problems.

If they can get Nunez off their books in the summer, they will have enough money to finance a deal for Osimhen, which will cost them around 75 million euros.
